Less Financial Strain: Mediation is often more cost-effective than litigation, preserving family resources that can be used to support the children’s needs, such as education, extracurricular activities, and a stable living environment.

Greater Sense of Control: Parents retain control over the decisions affecting their children’s lives, rather than leaving them in the hands of a judge. This sense of control empowers parents to make choices that align with their children’s well-being.

Minimized Conflict: Mediation encourages open and respectful communication between parents. By resolving disputes through dialogue rather than litigation, children are shielded from the harmful effects of prolonged, acrimonious battles.

Child-Centered Solutions: Mediation centers on the best interests of the children. Parents work together to create customized solutions that consider their children’s unique needs, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.

Cooperative Co-Parenting: Mediation fosters a cooperative co-parenting relationship. Parents learn effective communication skills and develop a more positive, collaborative approach to raising their children, leading to a healthier post-divorce family dynamic.

Faster Resolutions: Mediation typically results in quicker resolutions than court battles. This swift process minimizes the uncertainty and prolonged distress children may experience during legal proceedings.

Reduced Emotional Stress: Divorce is a stressful time for children, but mediation reduces that stress. It provides a more stable and reassuring environment, allowing kids to maintain a sense of security and routine.

Long-Term Benefits: Mediation sets the stage for ongoing cooperation and effective co-parenting. By demonstrating conflict resolution skills, parents model healthy relationships for their children, which can have lasting positive impacts on their development.

★★★★★

“One session with Jan Walden mediating between my ex-husband and myself achieved more than years of litigation has done. Jan helped both myself and ‘the ex’ define our goals for the future in regards to parenting time and shared parenting responsibilities. I felt we both were helped by her to speak and be heard, and positive progress was definitely made. Jan Walden was gracious and compassionate and I highly recommend seeking her help for matters in need of mediation.”
